2 Stroke Revival...what?…and why?:
Let’s start with the obvious, four stroke motorcycles are awesome machines that do everything well. This is not an opinion, but a fact borne out every weekend on podiums all around the planet. Buuuut, for some of us, somehow, that’s not quite enough. What is it about riding a dirt bike on a track, trail, fire road or mountain pass that makes you want more? It likely comes down to a certain feeling that results when you are, if not perfecting, at least improving the requisite management of physical and mental dexterity required to rail that next turn or clear the next obstacle. It’s a welcome challenge that requires laser focus just to have a chance of getting it right and – oh by the way – crank up the adrenaline a few notches because getting it wrong could exact a high price.
We won’t take time here to review the shift in the dirt bike universe from two stroke prominence to four stroke dominance. But for now, let’s just say that the volatile two stroke machines still hold a special place in the hearts of some of us of a certain age, and also for many to this day whose first riding and racing experience came on a two stroke. And while there is no arguing that four strokes are the big dogs in most of the fights today, there’s something about riding a two stroke that makes every effort to keep them alive worth it.
And finally we get to the point. Those of us who ride two strokes don’t do it because we have to…we ride them because we want to. Whatever the thrill from railing a berm or cleaning a climb, any extra effort required to do it on a two stroke amplifies the reward. We don’t have to search for the right gear, feather the clutch, and finesse the perfect amount of throttle (all at the same time)…we get to. And when it's finally done right and the hit from the powerband yanks a smile all the way back to your ears – it’s worth it. At 2 Stroke Revival we just want to the let world know so they can get in on it too…for the fun of it!
